Parkeharrison's Guardian

The viewer’s eyes are automatically driven to the top middle of the picture where a man is found standing upon two long parallel leafless branches of a dark tree. Below such, a trunk and many other dark branches on the sides and below add to the darkness of the picture. His knees bench forward a little partially due to the weight in his shoulders which is composed of skinny dead tree branches collapsed into wing shapes and his arms are extended in the way humans tend to mimic a bird’s flight. His face, the face of an older human with years of experience but not quite an elderly yet, stares down into the darkness with a look of determination. His obscure costume is composed of slacks, a dressing jacket and a white collar shirt almost beige. Beige too is the wall or the mist of which this individual is protruding from. The contrast of darkness and lightness creates the artistic feel in the picture. The odd individual is kept the emphasis of the picture because he has black clothes contrasting with the light that surrounds him. It is a bizarre scene nevertheless it aesthetically portraits the attempts of human beings who try to fly or succeed in a cruel world were each individual is eventually alone regardless of who or what is around one self and the determination one must have to guard what one believes in.

Beautiful critique. I really like some of your descriptive lines, and the subtle moments that you decided to describe as well, the bend in his knees, the crouch in his shoulders. Well done.
